Back on the Balance Board

21 minutes this morning. I sweat my ass off doing hula hoops. Can you believe that? I plan to do some more after work today. Perhaps I'll play/work with #1 husband.

Tried a couple of strength exercises. Rowing Squats and Tricep Curls. I still want to work my arms more!

Sick sucks

I haven't been on the balance board for 3 days. I've had a cold all week and just couldn't work up the energy. Head colds suck a lot. Got back on today and only did a fit test (in which I gained weight), and 5 minutes of actual moving around. Now, most of that was jogging, so there's that. But still.

I refuse to feel too bad about this morning's efforts since in another 2 hours I'm going on a nature walk with a group of friends and then I'm wandering around a giant shopping mall with my mother. No sitting around on the couch today for me!

Can it go on?

And now, it appears, I'm getting sick. I've been very good with my "regiment" but I woke up this morning with a sore throat that has gotten progressively worse throughout the day. I did my 30 minutes this morning, but I don't know how I'll feel tomorrow morning when I wake up.

Fingers crossed!

Why is it that I start some good habits and then it rapidly goes to shit? Psychosomatic, probably.

Doing all right

Skipped working out yesterday because we walked all around DC and Bethesda. Had a great time with Rain and Joe visiting the Library of Congress and eating new old food. We went to Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill and to Georgetown Cupcakes, but in Bethesda. I still apparently managed to lose a little weight doing that.

Working out this morning with #1 Husband. 30 Minutes done!

Day 2

Wii Day 2. Well, morning 2. I went 31 minutes this morning. The Fit cheers at you when you reach 30 minutes. Heh.

My only complaint so far is that the Fit focuses on lower body. To be fair I haven't gotten through all the strength exercises. But them seem to be legs and torso. I've got some hand weights, I may try to work those in eventually.

I'm feeling good about moving around though. I think I was perkier at work yesterday too. That would be nice.

Still working!

Blog Name Change

This is now my Wii Fit Adventure Blog.

We just got a Wii and a Wii Fit. I'm hoping to use it as a force for good. Getting my ass off the couch for good, anyway. The plan is for me to use the Wii Fit each day for a minimum of 30 minutes to start.

The only down side I see so far is that 30 minutes of exercise takes about 45 minutes total - what with the fiddling around between activities. I'm sure I'll get used to it or find some tool in the Fit that lets you roll from activity to activity.

There's still a lot of things I haven't tried yet, the best case scenario is that the range of things to do will keep my interest. Plus it's a lot like a game. You can high score for how well and how long you do the activities. Competition!

Day 1 - set up
Day 2 - 25 minutes in the morning. I dig the Super Hula Hoop!

What to accomplish with myself?

Okay, as noted by many (too many to count) recent comments and conversations between #1 Husband and I, I'm getting old. Swiftly.

While I don't actually feel old, I know that time's winged chariot draws near. Well, nearER anyway. So maybe it's time to think about things I'd like to do with myself. I've never excelled at this task. Ever. When all the little girls in school were daydreaming about being doctors, lawyers, and ballerinas...I was daydreaming about what was for lunch. Surprisingly, not much has changed in the intervening 25 years.

What's a good age to start a bucket list? And why do bucket lists have such a dumb name. Pheh, ponders for another day. On to the meat. As I still have no designs on what I want to be when I grow up (thank goodness I never have to do that!), instead I'll focus on things I want to do or experience. In no particular order:

1. Travel to at least 3 other countries. I'm going to set my goal low on this one and hope to build on it. Perhaps after I visit 2 other countries I'll up the goal.

2. Learn how to ballroom dance. We've taken a few lessons here and there. Now I'd like to put some effort into it and force my legs to not look like two sausages with clubs on the end. I want grace!

3. Complete my Bachelor's Degree. Hey, I'm on my way! Again.

4. Live on a small, mostly off-the-grid, home. With goats. And chickens. And my husband.

5. Find 500 geocaches. This is so doable, like soon. I figure I'll put something quite short term on here so I can feel good about reaching my goals.
